Who We Are

"Beyond The Eyes" is a Multi-Cultural Vocational Support Group for Blind/Visually Impaired men and women who have come together for the purpose of creating an alliance that will identify and address our needs, issues and concerns.

Our Mission

  • To share our various skills and resources to make change that will enable us to achieve equality, full inclusion in the rehabilitative process and self-sufficiency.
  • To establish linkages that provide support and mentorship to every group member and their families.
  • To share information and resources that will enhance our lives culturally, socially, educationally and vocationally
  • To create affiliations throughout the minority-disabled community to bring to the forefront the issues and concerns of this sector of the population to those in position to make decisions that affect the quality of our lives.
  • To support and encourage those with other disabilities.
  • To fortify the groups atmosphere of fellowship, sharing pain, hope and joy. Because pain shared is pain cut in half, but joy shared is joy doubled.

Our Vision

To form an alliance of individuals who are blind and visually impaired to create awareness of the issues and concerns of people who are differently-abled.

"Beyond The Eyes"

As single parents, we can all characterize what it’s like to deal with the day to day task of wearing many hats at any given time. For some of us, we gain perspective and do better when life throws us a curve ball or two. But most of us would never experience what it would be like to permanently lose our sight in the middle of raising children, especially as a widow.
This is the story of James Jasey, a dedicated single father and hard worker as a Senior Inspector at US Customs for 27 years . . . http://web.me.com/spmag/Site/Beyond_the_Eyes.html
